Juno grey boucle barrel accent chair with a wraparound back on a black three-legged metal base

The Juno is the chair in our lounge range with the most reviews per pound spent on its insides. A boucle barrel chair on a three-legged black metal base, with 36 individually wrapped coils under the seat, a wraparound back, a lumbar pillow in the box, and nineteen reviews, one of which calls it the most comfortable chair its owner has ever sat in.

What it is

A barrel accent chair. The frame is engineered wood and solid wood, the cover is textured boucle, and the seat is built like a mattress: 36 pocketed coils under 5cm of high-resiliency foam. The backrest is padded and wraps round, and a lumbar pillow is included.

The base is a tripod of black metal legs in a rectangular section with a stated 1.5mm wall thickness, each ending in an adjustable foot pad. The stated figures:

Seat58.5cm W x 54cm D
Seat construction36 pocketed coils + 5cm foam
Maximum load136kg

Who it suits

Anyone buying a chair to sit in for hours rather than to look at. The coils are the reason: foam alone softens and flattens; pocketed coils spring back. It suits a reading corner, a bedroom, or a living room that wants one properly comfortable seat.

D. T. Elliott: "Quite stylish and very easy to assemble. This is probably the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in."

The three-legged base is the other reason. A tripod cannot rock, so it sits square on an uneven floor without shimming.

Grey or white

White is the classic boucle look, bright and soft, and it is the one to keep away from a cat with claws. Grey is the same chair in a colour that forgives more. Frame, coils, pillow and legs are identical.

What buyers say

Jacky: "Incredibly sturdy, aesthetically stunning too, has a very high luxe vibe, it's definitely worth the price tag. I don't even write reviews on here but these chairs deserved one."

"Lovely chair, very comfortable and great quality."

Living with it

Vacuum the boucle with a soft brush; blot spills, never rub, so the loops stay put. Check the foot pads occasionally. Our guide to boucle and chenille covers the fabric over time.

Frequently asked questions

What is in the seat?

The product page states 36 individually wrapped pocketed coils under 5cm of high-resiliency foam. Coils are what a good mattress uses; on a chair they are the reason it stays comfortable for years rather than months.

How big is the seat?

Stated as 58.5cm wide by 54cm deep, which the page calls extra-wide, with a padded wraparound backrest and a lumbar pillow included.

Why three legs?

A tripod forms a triangle, which cannot rock the way four legs can on an uneven floor. The page states the rectangular-section legs have a 1.5mm wall thickness and adjustable foot pads.

How much weight does it take?

The stated capacity is 136kg on an engineered wood and solid wood frame.

Grey or white?

White is the classic boucle look and wants a room without a scratching cat. Grey is the more forgiving colour for daily use and suits a cooler scheme. Frame, coils and pillow are the same.
